Inez May Cole Byler

Inez May Cole Byler, 86, 1000 S. Plum, homemaker and formerly employed for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita in the early 1930s, died Wednesday (March 24, 1999) at her home in Newton.

She was born July 7, 1912, in Florence to Harry L. and Nellie V. (Myers) Cole. She married Ross A. "Shorty" Byler Sept. 27, 1950, in Missouri. He preceded her in death June 6, 1984.

She attended Zion Lutheran Church in Newton. She cleaned homes for people in the Florence area, after the death of her husband. She enjoyed making quilts and gardening.

Survivors include: two brothers, William Cole of Coos Bay, Ore., and George Cole of Walton; and two sisters, Mary Budde of Newton and Betty Whitcomb of Bend, Ore. She also was preceded in death by one brother, Victor Cole; and two sisters, Anne Walter and Florence Schmidt.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ronald Gloe from Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Florence.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Family will greet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials have been established with Central Homecare and Hospice in care of the funeral home.
