Leland E. Ames, 81, died Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at his home in North Newton. He was born February 16, 1933 in Mason City, Iowa to Millard Ames and Ethel Stinehart Ames. Leland was raised by his mother and step-father, Arnold Luker.
On July 8, 1961, he married Audrey A. Lehet at Bethlehem, Pa., and she survives of the home. Leland was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Newton and a retired manager for various cement plants in Indiana and Maryland. He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his loving family and friends.
Survivors: wife, Audrey, North Newton; sons, Corey (Kari), Maize, Kansas; Jeffery (Bobbie) of Beford, Indiana; brother, Norman Luker of Mason City, Iowa; four grandchildren: Mea, Andrew, Lea and Evan Ames and two step-grandsons, Dylan and Tyler Porter.
Leland is preceded in death by his mother, Ethel and Step-father, Arnold Luker.
Funeral services will be March 24, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church, Newton. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.
