Kelly Mark Broce
SEDGWICK -- Kelly Mark Broce, 42,
architect and vice-president of Law/Kingdon Architectural firm, died
Saturday (June 5, 1999) at his residence in Sedgwick.
He was born Oct. 24, 1956, in Salina to
Bruce and Katherine LaVonne Sampson Broce. His birthmother preceded
him in death. He is survived by his parents, Bruce and Mary Ann Broce
of Salina. He married Kathy Whelchel June 23, 1984, in Salina. She
survives of Sedgwick.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic
Church in Newton, American Institute of Architects, where he was
president in 1998. He was president-elect of the Wichita Section in
1997; AIA Committee on the Built Environment in 1990; City of Wichita
Wayfinding Task Force in 1998; Downtown Wichita Association, Mobility
Council, where he was secretary from 1993 to 1995; and Big Brothers
and Sisters of Sedgwick County in 1986.
He attended Pittsburg State University
from 1975 to 1977, Alumni Scholarship in 1976. He was a 1981 graduate
of Kansas State University, where he received a bachelor of
architecture. He received the Magna Cum Laude AIA Scholastic Award,
AIA School Medal and the Certificate of Merit from the Henry Adams
Fund in 1981.
Other survivors include: two brothers,
Mark Houser of Dallas and John Houser of Salina; and two sisters,
Lori Upchurch of Denver and Beth Edwards of Salina.
Funeral services were today at St.
Mary's Catholic Church in Newton with the Rev. Ken Schuckman
officiating.
Memorials have been established with
Salvation Army or Central Homecare and Hospice in care of the funeral
home.
