Antonio "Tony" Gomez, 73, retired BNSF machinist, died Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospital in Wichita. He was born July 20, 1940 at Newton, son of Antonio B. and Irene Pedrosa Gomez. Both are deceased.
He served in the U.S. Army and Army National Guard.
On December 31, 1960 he married Raquel "Rachel" Cerevantes at ElDorado. She surives at Halstead. Other survivors: sons, Anthony Gomez, Halstead; Raymond (Tricia) Gomez of Tulsa, Oklahoma; daughters Carolyn Farmer, Halstead; Mary Ann (Jock) Bernard, Wichita; brothers; Margarito (Martha) Gomez, Newton; Lucio (Frances) Gomez, Hutchinson; sister, Julia Pina, Newton; 6 grandsons and 10 breat grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Maria Soledad Gomez; brothers, John and Ramon Gomez; sisters, Amelia Gomez and Nancy Orpesa.
Rosary will be February 13 and Mass of Christian Burial will be February 14, 2014 at our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Newton.
