Hilda I. (Crist) Brown

Hilda I. (Crist) Brown, 79, 2009 Joann in Newton, retired retail salesperson of Gibson Department Store, died Tuesday (June 15, 1999) at Kansas Christian Home.

She was born April 10, 1920, in Newton to Jacob B. and Mary (Reimer) Loewen. She married Benjamin "Ben" Brown Oct. 27, 1992, in Newton. He survives of Newton.

She was a member of First Mennonite Church in Newton.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Rebecca Jantz of Newton; two brothers, O. R. Loewen of Valley Center and Marvin Loewen of Los Osos, Calif.; five sisters, Blondina Eaton of Moore, Okla., Bernice Admaue of Carrier Mills, Ill., Elma Snyder of Minnesota, Louella Reid of Longmont, Colo., and Linda Henry of California; and three grandchildren.

Memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at First Mennonite Church in Newton with the Rev. Rusty Bonham officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may sign the register book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.

Memorials have been established with First Mennonite Church in care of the funeral home.
