Eugene 'Gene' Hinton

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Eugene "Gene" Hinton, 77, died Tuesday (June 29, 1999) at his home after a long illness.

He was born May 23, 1922, in Sedgwick to Harry Doss and Agnes (Zarnowski) Hinton. He married Luella Spielman April 26, 1946. She survives.

During World War II he worked at Boeing and later joined the civil service division at Oklahoma City. He moved to Fayetteville where he had a garage, service station and mobile home sales and rentals.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fayetteville.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Barbara Jean Clevenger of Fayetteville, Ark.; one brother, Harry Hinton of Newton; four sisters, Elnora Fischer of Tulsa, Okla., Mary Margaret Talbot of Stanwood, Wash., Patricia Coffman of Sedgwick and Billie Vetter of Newton; and three grandchildren.

Rosary service will be at 8 p.m. today at Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville. Requiem mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fayetteville. Burial will be in the Farmington Cemetery.

Friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials have been established with St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 321 E. Lafayette, Fayetteville AR 72701.
