Gustave A. 'Gus' Ediger

Gustave A. "Gus" Ediger, 92, of North Newton, died Monday (Feb. 14, 2000) at Prairie View Hospital in Newton.

He was born Jan. 27, 1908, in Clinton, Okla., to Rev. J.B. and Agatha (Regier) Ediger. He married Wilhelmine Friesen Aug. 27, 1936, at West Zion Church in Moundridge. She preceded him in death Oct. 23, 1986.

He was a member of Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton and former member of Appleton Wisconsin Presbyterian Church.

He graduated from Bethel College in North Newton and received his masters degree from the University of Kansas. He was retired chairman of the science department at Appleton High School in Appleton, Wis. He coached many sports teams in his career.

He was a navigation instructor for the U.S. Navy Air Corps in World War II. He left the military as a lieutenant commander.

Survivors include: three brothers, Ott Ediger of Sinton, Texas, Tony Ediger of Orange, Calif., and Don Ediger of Overland Park; one sister, Hilda Voth of North Newton; and several nieces and nephews.

He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin Ediger and Theodore Ediger; and one sister, Anna Ruth Baehr.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bethel College Mennonite Church with Pastors Norma Johnson and Steve Yoder officiating. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at White Chapel Cemetery in Wichita.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Petersen Funeral Home.

Memorials have been established with Bethel College in care of the funeral home.
