Bertha S. Hiebert

SEDGWICK -- Bertha S. Hiebert, 89, homemaker and retired nurse aid for both Friendly Acres in Newton and Bethesda Home in Goessel, died Friday (Feb. 25, 2000) at Sedgwick Healthcare Center in Sedgwick.

She was born June 8, 1910, in Hamilton to Peter F. and Susie (Janzen) Janzen. She married Leonard Hiebert July 21, 1940, at Tabor Mennonite Church in rural Newton. He preceded her in death Nov. 20, 1967.

She was a member of the former Walton Mennonite Church. She enjoyed gardening and embroidering.

Survivors include: three sons, Leland Hiebert of Sedgwick, LaVern Hiebert of Walton and Jerry Hiebert of Newton; one sister, Dorothy Janzen of Goessel; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Eldon Janzen and John Janzen.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Floyd Zuercher officiating. Burial will be in the Walton Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials have been established with American Heart Association or Multiple Sclerosis Foundation in care of the funeral home.
