Karen Larita (Brown) Barnett

Karen Larita (Brown) Barnett, 62, passed away Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014.

She was born in Newton to Naaman O. Brown and Ella Marie (Gravelin) Brown. Karen was a 1970 graduate of Valley Center High School. She worked at the Sandwich Shop as a cook and retired as a director at the Sedgwick Lillian Tear Library.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Barnett; sons, Jason (Sherry) Barnett of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Matthew Barnett of Valley Center; grandchildren, Coleton Barnett, Christian Barnett, Alyssa Quiring and Austin Quiring; brothers, Lonnie Brown of Newton and Charlie Brown of Walton.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, and services 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, both at Baker Funeral Home, 100 S. Cedar, Valley Center.  Memorials to the Lillian Tear Library, 501 Commercial, Sedgwick, KS 67135. Baker Funeral Home, Valley Center, is handling arrangements.
