Taylor, Emmett Lee

The Newton Kansan

   Emmett Lee Taylor, 82, passed away June 19, 2014 at his home in rural Sedgwick.  He was born December 14, 1931 in Halstead to Francis Henry Taylor and Anna Marie Taylor.  Emmett spend the majority of his youth growind up in rural Harvey County working on the family farm  in Sedgwick.

   Emmett married Gertrude Lenora Fleming  in 1952 in Wichita.  They were happily married for 62 years.  Emmett became a baptized witness of Jehovah on December 9,1951.  He enjoyed auctions, old tractors, writing poetry and even though he would not admit it, enjoyed horses like his daughter Vicky.  He enjoyed working as a machinist for most of his life mostly the time spent with his brother Kenneth servng the community in his business of Taylor Forge Anvil in Nortrh Newton.

   He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Kenneth and Alford (Scotty) and his daughter, Vicky Kay Hambek.

   Survivors: wife, Gertrude of Sedgwick; sons, Robert Taylor (Janice of Alexander Arkansas; Quintin Shawn Taylor (Terri) and Kent Stephen Taylor, (Marcy) all of newton: 8 grandchildren.

   Emmett looks forward to the hope in which the Bible promises a resurrection to life in paradise here on earth helping to restore t to God's intended purpose or mankind.

   A memorial service was at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovan's Witnesses at 223 Soouth East 114th in Newton July 5.
