Raymond "Ray" Blanton Langford, 80, passed away Dec. 1, 2014, at Kansas Christian Home.

He was born on May 7, 1934, in Kansas City, to Betty and Ronald Langford. He was married to Janice Eileen Warkentin.  Ray was a decorated Air Force veteran, serving in both Korea and Vietnam. Between serving in Korea and Vietnam, he was an officer in the Newton Police Department. After retiring from the service, Ray settled in Austin, Texas, where he was a master plumber. In the early '80s, the family moved from Austin to Newton, where Ray worked and retired from Boeing in Wichita. He was also a master plumber in Newton, a large haul truck driver and also drove a bus for the Wichita Public School System.  Much of Ray's free time was spent in his workshop making many items for his family, that are very cherished. Ray was also an avid reader and a supporter of the Humane Society of Newton, where he and Janice had adopted several dogs from over the years.  The family would like to express their thanks to the many medical professionals at Newton Medical Center, Gentiva Hospice Services of Kansas and Kansas Christian Home, who provided care over the last few months.

Ray is survived by his wife, Janice, and children: Teresa Williams of Newton (married to Ernie), Roger Williams of Henderson, Kentucky (married to Carolyn), Michelle Evans of Austin, Texas (married to Dickie), Pam Langford of Leander, Texas, Gene Walter of Aurora, Colorado, Chris Moore of Lincoln, Nebraska (married to Danna) and Mike Moore of Platt City, Missouri; and 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  Ray is also survived by his sister, Beverly Jamison of Round Rock, Texas, and her family and half-siblings, Sandy Parsons of Overland Park, Jim-Pat Langford of Salina, and George Will and Ronnie Langford of Oklahoma.  Ray was preceded in death by his parents; mother, Betty Oriez and step-father, Ted Oriez; and his father, Ronald Langford and step-mother, Lorene Langford.

A memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Petersen Funeral Home of Newton, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, you may send a donation to one of the organizations that Ray supported, in his memory: The Wounded Warrior Project, The Humane Society of Newton, or St. Jude's.  Petersen Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
