Obituary

Daniel Lee Brackeen, 65, died on January 1, 2015 at his home in Newton, Kansas. Daniel was born on June 28, 1949 to Arthur and Thelma (Dooley) Brackeen in Newton, Kansas.

Daniel attended Newton schools and later served in the US Army.  He married Patricia Kay Lewallen on November 6, 2004. They were married for ten years prior to Daniel's death.  Daniel retired from MBPXL, a former meat plant in Wichita, KS. He deeply loved the Lord Jesus Christ, The Church of God of The Firstborn of which he was a Sunday School teacher, his family and his country. He will be remembered as a man who loved the simple things in life and he was someone who could always be counted on especially for telephoning church members the Daily Prayer Meeting Lessons.

He is survived by his wife: Patty Brackeen; brothers: Chuck and Elizabeth Brackeen, Herb Brackeen, Steve and Brenda Kay Brackeen, and Mike Brackeen and Brenda Sue Brackeen; sisters: Dave and Ann (Brackeen) Schmidt and Donna Brackeen. He was preceded in death by his father and mother: Arthur and Thelma Brackeen and brother: Buddy Brackeen.

A Funeral service will be on Monday, January 5, 2015 at 10:00 AM, at the Church of God of the First born, 10th and Oak, Newton, KS. Burial will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery. There is no public visitation.  A memorial has been set up for the Church of God of the First Born.  Arrangements by Petersen Family Funeral Home, Newton.
