Marlyn Kenneth Bontrager, 82, Hesston, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015.

He was born in Kalona, Iowa to Christopher Perry Bontrager and Viola Fern (Hershberger) Bontrager. He was a graduate of Kalona High School, Kalona, Iowa. After graduation he served in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War Veteran. On June 1, 1974 he married the love of his life, Gladene.  He was a retired Kenworth OTR Driver.

He is survived by his wife Gladene Bontrager; children Joni (Steven) King of St. Louis, Missouri and Brent McElmurry of Santa Fe, New Mexico; grandchildren Emily (Jessie) Benedich of Beloit, Kansas, Matthew King of St. Louis, Missouri and Katherine Williams of St. Louis, Missouri; great grandchildren Elenor Jane Benedich, Benjamin and Logan Williams; sisters Helen Miller of Hesston, Kansas and Marjorie Friesen of Newton, Kansas; many other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Chris and Fern Bontrager, sisters Velma Yoder, Bette Messenger, Clara Belle Schlbough and Carolyn Bontrager.

Services will be held at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Hesston United Methodist Church, 606 N. Ridge Rd, Hesston, Kansas.  Baker Funeral Home Valley Center is handling the arrangements.  Memorials may be designated in his memory to Good Shepherd Hospice, 301 N. Main Ste 300, Newton, Ks 67114.
