Obituary
Richard E. Balzer, 85, farmer and
stockman, died Monday, June 15, 2015 at Via Christi St. Francis
Medical Center, Wichita, KS.
He was born May 3, 1930 at Newton, KS
to Frank and Elizabeth (Richert) Balzer.
He was a Halstead resident for 50 years
moving from Hillsboro in 1965.
He was a member of First Mennonite
Church, Halstead and served as a deacon and trustee.
On July 12, 1955 he married Marylin F.
Smith at Pawnee Rock, KS. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son: Randy
(Sara) Balzer, Halstead, KS; sisters: Donna Hildebrand, Firestone,
CO; Carolee (Ken) Neufeld, South Hutchinson, KS; and five
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter:
Annette Green.
Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m.
with the family will receiving friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m.,
Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Kaufman
Funeral Home, Halstead, KS.
The committal service will be held
10:00 a.m. Friday June 19, 2015 at Haven of Rest Cemetery, Hillsboro,
KS.
A celebration of life will follow at
11:30 a.m. at First Mennonite Church, Halstead, KS with Pastor Brian
Harmon officiating.
Memorials may be given to Mennonite
Disaster Services or M.C.C. in care of Kaufman Funeral Home,
Halstead, KS.
