Velma Jean Balzer
INMAN -- Velma Jean Balzer, 66, of Inman, a homemaker and former teacher, died Thursday (April 6, 1995) at her home.
She was born Oct. 13, 1928, in Deer Creek, Okla., to David S. and Elsie Schroeder Krehbiel. She married John R. Balzer June 5, 1952, in Blackwell, Okla. He survives.
She was a 1950 Bethel College graduate and had lived in Inman since 1952. She was a member of the Hebron Mennonite Church. She formerly chaired the Bethel College Women's Association and was a founding board member of the Fidelia E. Balzer Plett Charitable Foundation.
Survivors include four sons, John Schmidt of Walton, Tim Schmidt of Derby, David K. Balzer and Paul J. Balzer, both of Inman; a brother, Marlin Krehbiel of Lakin, and three grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Hebron Mennonite Church in Buhler with the Rev. Wayne Hockstetler officiating. Burial will be in Hebron Church Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials to the Hebron Endowment Fund at Bethel College. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Buhler Mortuary.
