Obituary

HUTCHINSON - Thomas Joseph Dyer, 78, passed away Saturday (Aug. 22, 2015) at Hospice House in Hutchinson.

He was born Oct 27, 1936, to Joseph Herbert and Rose White Dyer in Baldwin City. He attended Baldwin Country School and Baldwin City High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society. He graduated from the University Of Kansas School Of Pharmacy in Lawrence in 1959. After graduation he was drafted by the Army and served two years in the Army Reserves. He was discharged prior to the Vietnam Conflict. During this time he had moved to Halstead and worked for the Hertzler Clinic and the Halstead Hospital for 40 years as a Registered Pharmacist. Upon the hospital and clinic closing, he filled in on a temporary basis at Ashcraft Drug, Coberly Drug, and traveled for RPH On The Go Pharmacy Company.

He married Wanda Moulds Aug 27, 1966 in Halstead; they had two children Joseph William and Janice Ilene. While in Halstead, Tom was a member of the Lions Club, Halstead Bowling League, and was a member of the Jaycees which was instrumental in helping start the Halstead Airport. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he was an usher, church volunteer, and helped teach CCD. Tom enjoyed many hobbies such as gardening, bird watching, fishing, and pheasant hunting in western Kansas. He also followed the Kansas City Royals and being a KU Grad was an avid KU Basketball fan. Tom and Wanda later moved to Hutchinson in 1997 where they were kept busy attending their grandchildren's many activities. They are members of Holy Cross Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, he leaves behind his wife: Wanda; son: Joe and his wife Lynette ; daughter: Janice; grandchildren: Tyler, Kathryn, Emily all of Hutchinson, and Jami, Manhattan.

The Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 27), and Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 29) both at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Halstead with Father Edmond Kline officiating.

Burial will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Prairie City Cemetery in Baldwin City.

Memorials may be given to the Kansas Learning Center for Health or Trinity Catholic High School Campaign for Excellence in care of Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.
