Leslie Earl Baumgartner (1935 - 2015)
Obituary
Leslie Earl Baumgartner was called home
to be with the Lord on November 18, 2015 after a sudden heart attack.
Les was born on April 9, 1935 in Elbing, Kansas, the first of five
children born to Harold and Mildred Baumgartner. He graduated from
Newton High School, where he met the love of his life, Gayle
Elizabeth Casey. They married on January 20, 1956 and would have
celebrated their 60th anniversary in January.
Les began his career at Boeing Wichita
in 1955 as a keypunch operator. During his 40-year tenure with
Boeing, Les earned a Masters in Business from the University of
Washington and led many successful projects in the Boeing Computer
Services organization. Les and Gayle have been active long-time
members of St. Madeleine Sophie parish and he was a member of Knights
of Columbus. Les was also a popular shuttle driver at Valley Medical
Center where he volunteered with Gayle for many years.
In addition to Gayle, Les is survived
by four children: daughters Denise (Renato) Ajeto, Melissa (Scott)
Mace, Lucretia (Michael) Berg, and son Tracy (Rebecca) Baumgartner;
six grandchildren: Jason Barber, Jaime Barber, Crystal (Tracy) Moore,
Ryan Mace, Natalie Mace and Samuel Baumgartner; five
great-grandchildren: Kassadi Rideout, Dravus Royce, Keegan Royce,
Kaitlin Anderson and Layla Duggan; siblings: Robert (Bonnie)
Baumgartner, Cathy (James) Hirsch, and Carol Baumgartner (wife of
Warren Baumgartner, deceased), and many loving nephews and nieces.
A memorial mass and reception for Les
will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 11:00 am at St.
Madeleine Sophie Catholic Church, 4400 130th Pl SE, Bellevue, WA
98006.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be
made to the Union Gospel Mission, St. Vincent de Paul, or the St.
Madeleine Sophie Catholic School.
