Lanoy E. Loganbill, 85, died on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Center at Via Christi St. Francis Campus, Wichita, of complications from stomach surgery as a result of pancreatic cancer diagnosed in the last month of his life.

Lanoy was born on July 12, 1930 to Jesse and Eva (Becker) Loganbill in Lawrence, Kansas. He married Mary Esther Graber on August 6, 1950 in the Bethel College Chapel in North Newton. Mary Esther preceded him in death eight days earlier on August 28, 2015.

He was baptized in the First Mennonite Church, Bluffton, Ohio, and thereafter was a member of the Bethel College Mennonite Church. After beginning his career work as an electrician at Graber's Hardware he started and then operated his own firm, Loganbill Electric, until his retirement.

Lanoy was captivated with architecture and building and designed and built four homes including a tilt-up concrete house and a concrete geodesic house. Other passions included music and sports competing at Newton High School and at Bethel College where he earned all-conference honors in basketball all four years he played.

Preceding him in death are his parents and one brother, Fernan C. Loganbill. Surviving him are sister-in-law, Elaine Loganbill, Pratt (wife of Fernan); brothers Dr. Varden Loganbill (Luella) of Moundridge and Denard Loganbill (Marguerite) of Tucson, Arizona; son, Frederick Loganbill (Renee Sauder) of Kitchener, Ontario; daughter, Deborah Goering (Preston Goering) of Newton; son, Joseph Loganbill of Newton; and 5 grandchildren.

A memorial service celebrating Lanoy's life will be held Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethel College Mennonite Church, North Newton.

Memorials have been established with the Bethel College Mennonite Church and Mennonite Central Committee, both in care of the Petersen Funeral Home, Newton.
