Frieda Elnora Epp

LEAVENWORTH - Frieda Elnora Epp, 70, of
Leavenworth died Monday (Dec. 10, 2007) at The University of Kansas
Hospital of acute leukemia and complications.
She was born June 5, 1937, in Newton,
the daughter of John and Marie (Harder) Epp. She was raised on a farm
home at Whitewater. She was baptized on her profession of faith in
her Lord Jesus Christ at Emmaus Mennonite Church.
Her early education came at Brainerd
Grade School and Berean Academy in Elbing. Two college degrees were
earned - one at Grace University in Omaha, Neb., in Christian
education and a second at Goshen College in Indiana in elementary
education. Later she completed a master's degree at Emporia State
Teachers College.
As a school teacher, she taught in
Leavenworth for more than 20 years at Lincoln, Muncie and Anthony
schools. Earlier she taught at Hillsboro and in the Turner District
of Kansas City.
Frieda was a cancer survivor of 17
years; she empathetically volunteered to lead the monthly cancer
support group at the local St. John Hospital.
She was a member of the educational
Beta Beta Society of Delta Kappa Gamma. She served as their
president.
At her church, Community Covenant of
Lenexa, she was responsible for the monthly friendship luncheons. She
handled the organizations and decorations. She was much appreciated.
She was a faithful and devoted member.
She enjoyed traveling. At times, she
went with groups; other times she traveled with a sister or two,
visiting various relatives as they crossed the country.
Survivors include her siblings, Paul
and Hildegard Goshen of Rhinelander, Wis., Martha Epp of Whitewater,
Albert and Joann Epp of Bakersfield, Calif., Dave and Phebe Cressman
of Scottdale, Pa., John and Ruth Epp of St. Louis, Phil and Justina
Martin of Leavenworth, and Melvin and Sylvia Epp of Whitewater.
Frieda was preceded in death by her
parents.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m.
Dec. 20 at Community Covenant Church of Lenexa, with Pastor Tom
Anderson officiating.
R.L. Leintz Funeral Home in Leavenworth
is in charge of arrangements.
