Obituary

Stanley Clayton "Kye" Withiam, 85, passed away on Monday (March 21, 2016) at Schowalter Villa, Hesston, in the loving arms of his wife and surrounded by his family. He was born Dec. 9, 1930, at Winfield, the son of George and Mary (Cummins) Withiam. He was a graduate of Winfield High School.

Withiam was an oil field pumper and had served in the US Navy as an Engineman 2nd Class. After retiring from the oil field, he worked at Kropf Lumber for seven years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Oakley, and the American Legion. On Feb. 23, 1954, he married Edna Lee Wamsley at Rock. She survives.

He is also survived by his children, David (Donna) Withiam of Newton, Diana (Jim) Schmidt of Goessel and Bill Withiam of McPherson; sister Rosemary Osburn of Hesston; grandchildren Robin Grosch, Megan Withiam, Carrie Smith and Ben Schmidt; and great-grandchildren Brittany, Wyatt, Weston, Caralee and Norah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Nathan Fast and siblings Frank, Mildred, Kenneth, Maxine, Jessie and Harold.

Service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday (March 26, 2016) at Schowalter Villa Chapel, Hesston, with Pastor Keith Schadel officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery, Roxbury. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday (March 25, 2016) with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Miller-Ott Funeral Home, Hesston.

Memorials may be made to Caring Hands Humane Society or Schowalter Villa Resident Care Fund in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home, Hesston.
