Dennis Staley, 67, died on Wednesday, Dec. 30 at Newton Medical Center.

Dennis was born on March 6, 1948 in Newton to Galen Eugene and Velda Mae (Gillispie) Staley.

Dennis attended Newton schools and worked in the Bethel College Food Service area for 43 years. He was an avid fan of Bethel College Athletics and was called their "No. 1 Fan". He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Newton.

He is survived by his mother: Velda Mae Staley Higgins and her husband, Berle; brothers: Rod and Nancy Staley, and Kevin and Angie Staley.

He was preceded in death by his father: Galen Eugene Staley.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m,Thursday (Jan. 7, 2016) at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel in Newton. A public visitation will be at Petersen Funeral Home from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 6, 2016) Burial will follow the service at Wild Mead Cemetery in rural Nickerson.
