Obituary
Barbara Ruth Billingsley, 88, of Newton
passed away Monday (Feb. 22, 2016) at Newton Medical Center.
Barbara was born to Daniel Webster and
Vestal Mae (Fox) Bushman on Dec. 5, 1927 in Blackwell, Oklahoma. She
and her family moved to Ava, Missouri during the Great Depression to
be closer to family.
Barbara graduated from Ava High School
in 1944 and married in 1945. Barbara worked for Sears for 33 years,
eventually becoming the regional credit manager, a position which
allowed her to travel and see the country.
Throughout her life, Barbara remained
devout in her faith and passionate about her family. As a member of
the Catholic faith, she attended St. Mary's Church in Newton. She
enjoyed holding large holiday parties and was always willing to lend
a helping hand, whether watching grandchildren and
great-grandchildren or simply offering advice. Her family will miss
spending time with her and enjoying her delicious strawberry-rhubarb
cobbler.
Barbara is survived by her two
children, Pamela S. Dyck and Donald E. Billingsley, seven
grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren,
two nieces and a nephew.
She is preceded in death by her father,
mother, brothers Max E. Bushman and Kenneth R. Bushman, and
son-in-law Jerry D. Dyck.
Visitation hours for Barbara will be
from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday (Feb. 25, 2016) at Petersen Family
Funeral Home. Services conducted by Father Volker will be held at
Petersen Family Funeral Home at 10 a.m. on Friday (Feb. 26, 2016).
Barbara will be interred at Greenwood Cemetery following the
services.
