Obituary

William A. "Bill" Lock, age 70, of Shell Knob, Missouri, passed away Saturday (May 23, 2015) at home with his family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

He was born November 24, 1944, in El Dorado, the son of the late George W. and Alice L. (Thompson) Lock. On June 29, 1968, in Newton he was united in marriage to Joella Scott who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Melanie Lock of Shell Knob, Missouri, and Annora Lock of Kimberling City, Missouri, and one brother Robert 'Bob' Lock of Shell Knob, Missouri, and many nieces and nephews.

Growing up in Newton he attended and graduated from Newton High School in 1963. He then studied at El Dorado Junior College in El Dorado. Bill was a partner in Century Clothing for many years in Newton, and after moving his family to Shell Knob in 1977, he worked as an Independent Sales Representative in the clothing business and later in the marine industry. He and his wife, Joella owned and operated a clothing store in Shell Knob and were co-creators of The Knob Rock Rattler. For many years he was a very active member of the Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce.

Bill was a member of the Shell Knob Shrine Club and Abou Ben Adhem Temple in Springfield, Missouri, where in 2002 he served as Potentate. He was also on the Board of Directors for the Shriners Hospital for Children of Mexico City, Mexico.

He enjoyed using his creative skills to work on projects in the community and enjoyed boating, camping and was an avid NASCAR fan. Bill was a member of the Central Community United Methodist Church in Shell Knob. He was dedicated to his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service with Masonic Rites will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday (May 28) in Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob, Missouri. Reverend Teressa Clyde will conduct the services.

Visitation will be from 10 until 11 a.m. Thursday, in Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob.

Contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children or The American Cancer Society in memory of Bill.
