Charles Elmer Tieszen

Charles E. Tieszen, 87, died October 11, 2006 at Halstead Health and Rehabilitation. He was born on October 25, 1918 to Jacob Franz and Augusta Beatrice Voth Tieszen in Marion, South Dakota. They preceded him in death.

He married Dorothy M. Wedel on February 9, 1941 in Moundridge. They had three sons. He married Elizabeth Rush Entz on June 15, 1979 in Newton. She preceded him in death.

He grew up and worked on the family farm near Walton. He attended Walton schools. Charles was a member of Faith Mennonite Church in Newton.

He worked as a plumber for several years and later worked in asembly and maintenance at Hesston Manufacturing. He enjoyed bowling, camping and hunting with his sons.

Survivors: sons Bob (Patricia) Tieszen, Sanger, Texas; James (Martha) Tieszen, Denton, Texas and Dwayne (Cheryl) Tieszen of Denton, Texas; sisters, Helen Saunders of Eugene, Oreton; Vernell Wedel of Moundridge and Darlene Gilchrist of Hays; 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Services were held October 14 at Petersen's Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gordon Smith of Faith Mennonite Church officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Newton. Memorials to Hospice.
