Obituary

Rachel Minor, 98, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 7, 2015, in Newton.

Rachel, a long time Newton resident, was born May 21, 1916, in Richards, MO, the daughter of John and Alberta Zimmerman.

Rachel and Robert Minor were married in Nevada, MO, in 1941 and celebrated 67 years of marriage before his passing in 2009.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, David and Dean Zimmerman.

She is survived by son, Steve and wife Michelle, Bonner Springs; grandson, Bryce Perkins and wife Heather, Broomfield, CO; granddaughters, Bridget and Delaney Minor, Bonner Springs; great-grandchildren, Jayden and Ethan Perkins, Broomfield; sister, Shirley Higgins, Fort Scott; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rachel was a long time member of First Christian Church, where she established life-long friendships.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, February 19th, with family receiving friends 4:00 to 6:00 P.M., at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 East Broadway, Newton.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, February 20th, at First Christian Church, 102 East First Street, Newton. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to First Christian Church.
