Obituary

Jane F. Rutschman, 79, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, at her Dodge City residence.

She was born Aug. 11, 1935, in Newton to Morris and Alice (Billings) Hogan. On June 15, 1953, she married Marvin J. Rutschman at St. Mary's Church in Newton, and he survives of the home.

Jane was a member of the Catholic Church. She was a Kansas City Chiefs fan and enjoyed tailgating at Arrowhead Stadium. She also enjoyed watching college basketball and tennis. You could find Jane watching MSNBC on TV, keeping up with current events and news. She was an avid reader and enjoyed needlepoint.

Jane greatly enjoyed spending time with her loving family and many friends, especially attending the annual Rutschman family weekend gathering. She was known for her quick wit, warm heart and her storytelling. Her ability to make others laugh will be greatly missed.

Jane is survived by her husband, Marvin of the home; sons, Gregory Rutschman of Delta, Colorado, and Jeffery and his wife, Laura Rutschman and Chris Rutschman, both of Dodge City; daughters, Debra Rutschman of Phoenix, Arizona, Marla and her husband, Bill Baugh of Dodge City, Malia and her husband, Merrill Hodgden of El Dorado, and Mindy Rutschman of Gardner; and sister, Nancy and her husband, Jim McFarlane of Newton.

Jane also is survived by 20 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dick Hogan; nephew, Rick McFarlane; sister-in-law, Judy Koerner Hogan; and great-nephew, Brian Arellano.

Funeral Mass will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Newton, with the Rev. Jim Mainzer presiding. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, at Petersen Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. following the Rosary. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.

Memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers to Hospice of the Prairie, in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
