Obituary

James "Jim" F. Bueker, 86, died on Saturday (April 16, 2016) at the Kansas Christian Home in Newton. He was born on Nov. 8, 1929, in Newton, to Irene Agnes (Gibson) and William Earl Bueker.

Jim graduated from Newton High School in 1947 and then went on to attend college at Kansas State.

On Oct. 16, 1954, he married Imogene M. Sloan at the First Christian Church in Newton.

Jim worked as a design engineer in the aeronautical field for different companies throughout his lifetime. He retired from Cessna after many years of employment.

Outside of his family, the church was the next most important aspect of Jim's life. He taught Sunday school, sang in the Chancel choir, chaired various boards and committees and was a Youth Group leader. Church camp was also important to Jim. He served as a church camp counselor for several years, and spent time with his children and grandchildren at camp many times.

His hobbies included photography and being with his family. He was also a collector and had many unique collections at his home.

Preceding him in death was his spouse Imogene M. Bueker; son, Terence (Terry); three brothers, Bill, Robert and George; his father and step-mother, William Earl and Ethel Bueker and mother and step-father, Irene Agnes and Harry Tryon.

Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn and Ken Schwarz, Bel Aire and Jan Bueker, Wichita; sisters-in-law, Lois Bueker, Paris, Texas and Pat Osborne, Commerce City, Colorado; granddaughter Marlene and husband, John Plumley of Edgewater, Maryland and children Andrew and Daniel Jones; grandson Dustin and husband Nathan Schwarz-Parson, Springfield, Virginia.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, from 1-8 p.m. with the family greeting from 5-7 p.m. at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, KS, 67114.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at 1 p.m. at First Christian Church in Newton, with Reverend Gary Bell presiding.

Burial will follow at the Restlawn Garden of Memories, Newton.

Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, Kansas Christian Home or Camp Tawakoni, in care of the funeral home.
