Obituary

Mary Phyllis Steinkirchner, 87, formerly of Newton, died Tuesday (Feb. 18, 2014) at the Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus.

Phyllis was born on Feb. 27, 1926, in Newton, the daughter of Bernard John and Della Elberson Steinkirchner Sr. She attended local schools and was a piano teacher for many years.

Phyllis was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was proud of her Newton heritage and spent most of her life in Newton until moving to nursing facilities in Wichita within the past year.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Bernard John Steinkirchner Jr.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday (March 9, 2014) at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Newton. Private family inurnment will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

There will be no visitation or viewing as cremation has been effected.
