Obituary
Mary O. Burris, 81, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at Asbury
Park in Newton.
She was born Feb. 15, 1932, in Tulsa, Okla., to James and
Martha (Givens) Bartley. On Dec. 31, 1963, she married Earl Burris in Valley
Center, and he preceded her in death.
Mary was a member of the Columbus Avenue Church of Christ in
Newton. She was retired from Cessna Aircraft in the engineering records
department. Mary was a friendly person and enjoyed spending time with her many
friends. She especially looked forward to visits from her family. She was very
appreciative of all the help she had received in the last few months of her
life from those close to her.
She is survived by one son, Steven Morris of Sacramento,
Calif.; step son Johnny Burris and his wife, Judy of Wichita; daughter, Sandra
Mason and her husband, David of Newton; step daughter, Patricia Burris and her
husband, Pete Brown of Trussville, Ala.; six grandchildren; and seven
great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and sisters.
A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29,
2014, at Restlawn Gardens of Memory, with Pastor Buddy Aldridge presiding.
Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, with the family receiving friends from
6:30 to 8 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m.
Wednesday at Columbus Avenue Church of Christ.
