Obituary
HESSTON - Clifford W.
Amstutz, 85, passed away on Dec. 15, 2013, at Schowalter Villa, Hesston.
He was born on April 14, 1928, at Orville, Ohio, the son of
Paul and Esther Bixler Amstutz. He taught agriculture at Hesston Academy and
College, then agriculture/math at McGregor Teacher Training College in Nigeria
for five years.
After returning to the states, at age 46 he got his RN
degree. He had worked as a nurse at McPherson Hospital, in rural health in
Bolivia with MCC, Axtell Hospital and Newton Medical Center until he retired.
He was a member of the Hesston Mennonite Church. On June 15,
1952, he married Lois Blosser at Columbiana, Ohio. She survives.
Other survivors include his children, Wendell (Karen)
Amstutz of Hubbard, Ore., Crystal (Brian) Oster of Newton, Clinton Paul (Hildi)
Amstutz of Asuncion, Paraguay, South America, Neil (Janette) Amstutz of Goshen,
Ind., Lynell (Steve) Fine of Elk City, Okla.; one brother, Mahlon Amstutz of
Wheat Ridge, Colo.; two sisters, Lillian Gotshall and Adeline Yoder, both of
Indianapolis, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Ivan Amstutz.
The family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec.
22, 2013, at the Hesston Mennonite Church Community Room. A memorial service
will be at 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at Hesston Mennonite Church, with
Pastors Amy Nissley Stauffer and Clayton Gladish officiating.
