Obituary
BURRTON - Leona A. Byrd, 56, died July 8, 2013, in Kansas
City, Kan.
She was born Dec. 26, 1956, in Augusta, to Roscoe (Gayle)
and Virginia Grow, both of whom have also passed.
She is survived by her husband, Johnnie Byrd; three sisters,
Victoria Grow, Sharon Grow and Dona Jandura; two brothers, Roscoe (Sonny) Grow
Jr. and Doran Grow; seven children, Jackie Simmons, Michael Thompson, Quincy
Byrd, Tidus Thompson, DeJesus Thompson, Andre Byrd and Chanteau Byrd; and
several grandchildren.
Leona worked as a CMA at a care center in Halstead. She was
a member of Bethany Baptist Church, where she also did missionary work. She was
a great mom, friend and loving wife. She was a strong, admirable and loved
woman.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, at
Bethany Baptist Church, Bentley. Following the service, the family will have a
reception at the Flickinger Building, 203 N. Burrton Ave. in Burrton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Bethany Baptist
Church, 20705 W. 117th N., Bentley, KS 67016 (Johnnie Byrd and the kids).
