Margaret (Wedel) Brubacher
Obituary
Margaret Marie Wedel Brubacher passed
away on September 25, 2016 at Schowalter Villa in Hesston, Kansas.
She was born to Christian and Katie Goering Wedel on Valentine's Day,
1927 in Moundridge, Kansas. As the youngest of five children she grew
up on a farm north of Moundridge. She attended a two-room school
during her elementary years and graduated from Moundridge High School
in 1945. She attended the Eden Mennonite Church, less than two miles
from her home, and was baptized there in her teen years. She was a
student at Bethel College for three years.
She worked for Mennonite Weekly Review
until her marriage to Don Brubacher on February 13, 1949. They
resided on a farm west of Walton until 1968 when they moved to
Hesston. While living on the farm, the family attended the Bethel
College Mennonite Church and after the move to Hesston, the family
then attended the Hesston Mennonite Church. In 2006, she and Don
moved to Lake Vista into a duplex unit on the lake of Schowalter
Villa.
Margaret is survived by one daughter,
Cindi and Lowell Roth of Hesston, two sons, Don and Janette Brubacher
of Hillsdale, Michigan and Dale and Deb Brubacher of Hesston, seven
grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Marie Wedel
of Moundridge, Kathryn Stucky of Newton, Yvonne and Alan Dalke of
McPherson, and brother-in-law Jack Brubacher of Edmond, Oklahoma. She
was preceded in death by her husband Don who passed away on February
2, 2014, her parents, two brothers, Marlin and Homer Wedel and two
sisters, Helen Scott and Alice Krehbiel Schrag.
Visitation for friends and family will
be at the Hesston Mennonite Brethren Church, 610 W. Randall St., on
Wednesday, September 28 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be at 3:00
p.m. on Thursday September 29 at Eastlawn Cemetery, outside of
Hesston. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the Hesston
Mennonite Church, 309 S. Main St.
Memorials have been established with
the Et Cetera Shop of Newton and can be left at the Hesston Mennonite
Church or the Moundridge Funeral Home in Moundridge, KS.
