Obituary: Veda Mae Reser

KS_Newton  —  Veda Mae Reser, 81, died Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at her Hesston residence.

She was born March 26, 1932, in Little River to Herman and Claudine (Briscoe) Reschke. On April 4, 1951, she married Delbert Reser in Harrison, Ark., and he survives of the home.

Veda was a retired cashier for Santa Fe Credit Union in Newton. She enjoyed quilting and sharing her creations with her family and friends. She also had an extensive doll collection she liked to share. Veda’s family and friends were very important to her, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Delbert Reser, of the home; son, Gary Reser and his wife Carol of Newton; daughter, Brenda Denzler of Pittsboro, N.C.; two brothers, Dale Reschke of Peculiar, Mo., and Lawrence Reschke of Little River; and three sisters, Hazel Taylor of Del City, Okla., Juanita Moss of Burlington, Wis., and Eula Hebert of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Graham Denzler, Todd Denzler, Arika Thurman, Stephanie Pham, Jason Reser and Brian Reser; and seven great-grandchildren. Veda was excitedly expecting her eighth great-grandchild in a few weeks.

She is preceded in death by her parents; infant twin daughters; brother, Kenneth Reschke; and sister, Betty Butler.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Peter Hartman presiding. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. A private family burial will take place in Winfield.

Memorials are suggested in Veda’s name to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67203.
