Obituary: Bess E. Mullet

KS_Newton  --  Bess E. Mullet, 89, passed away on April 17, 2013, at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.

She was born May 21, 1923, in Glendive, Mont., the daughter of Ernest T. and Edith Cole Johnson. She was a homemaker.

On March 20, 1943, she married Roy Mullet in Bloomfield, Mont. He passed away on Jan. 14, 2011. Bess was a member of the Hesston Mennonite Church. She was a longtime volunteer at the Et Cetera Shop, and the former Bethel Deaconess Hospital in Newton. Bess was a lifelong Atlanta Braves fan.

She is survived by her sons, David (Jan) of Bloomfield, Mont., Bob (Janie) of Hesston, Paul (Teresa) of Hesston, Steve (Phyllis) of Bloomfield, Mont., Mick (Linda) of Bloomfield, Mont.; sisters, Jerri (Jim) Olson of Fargo, N.D., Pat (Floyd) Henrickson of Wadena, Minn., Jackie (Russ) Schimpp of Staples, Minn.; half-sister, Maureen O'Shay of Elk Grove, Calif., Ernestine Siegle of Glendive, Mont.; half-brother, Greg Johnson of Minneapolis, Minn.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; brother, Paul Johnson; and sisters, Barbara Nissley and Beverly Buck.

Private burial will be in the Hesston City Cemetery.

Memorial services will be on Friday, April 26, 10 a.m. at the Schowalter Villa Chapel, Hesston, with Pastor John C. Murray and Chaplain Wendy Miller officiating.

Visitation with family present will be on Thursday, April 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Miller-Ott Funeral Home, Hesston.
