Berry, R.W.
The Hutchinson News
R. W. Berry died this week at Great Falls, Montana.
Mr. Berry got his start as a mail carrier in Halstead, later became a lawyer in Halstead and then Newton. He was virtually
elected as county attorney in 1892 but he was counted out and the next year or
so moved to Great Falls where he had ever since lived. He was married about
1892 to Mrs. Emma Turner, a teacher in the Halstead schools, who with one son
survive.
Mr. Berry was
elected prosecuting attorney at Great Falls a number of years ago and last
election he was a candidate for public administrator but his Democratic
opponent claimed the election. A recount of the votes completed a day or two
before Mr. Berry’s death gave him the election by nine votes. (c) HCGS.
