Gaede, Brian Mark

The Newton Kansan

Brian Mark Gaede died Saturday, November 10, 2012, in Papillion, Nebraska.

He was born March 9, 1957, in Newton, Kansas, to Robert L. Gaede and Elvera Louise (Overholt) Gaede, Brian grew up in Newton, graduating from Newton High School in 1975, and was very active in athletics throughout his school years, especially excelling in golf. He then moved to Hutchinson, Kansas, and attended Hutchinson Junior College, where he received an Associate’s Degree in drafting. During that time, he started working for Bergsten Detailing at the age of 19 where he was first introduced to structural steel detailing, which would be his occupation for the next 36 years.

At the age of 21, Brian accepted Christ as his personal Savior and later started attending Westside Baptist Church in Hutchinson, Kansas. There, he met his future wife, Deanne (Montford) Gaede. They were married on August 22, 1987, in Hutchinson. Over the next several years, they lived in Kansas City, Joplin, and then moved to St. Joseph, Missouri, in 1990. They established their home there and had two sons, Brandon and Trevor. In 2001, they moved to Edmond, Oklahoma, and in October of 2009, moved to Nebraska where he continued to be a self-employed steel detailer.

Brian’s passion and love of the Word of God was evident in his life. He lived the Scripture that he memorized and enjoyed spreading the gospel of Christ to others. He remained active in Church, becoming a deacon, teaching and serving others. In June of 2012, he went on his first missions trip to Canada and was looking forward to going again in 2013. He was a loving husband and father, and enjoyed spending time with his family as well as being involved in his children’s sports activities. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him, but they are comforted in knowing that he is in the presence of the Lord.
