Elaine Bartel, 86, passed away October 17, 2012 at Newton Medical Center,
Newton.
She was born on August 13, 1926 in Moundridge the daughter
of Menno and Edna Epp Dirksen.
She was an active member of the Goessel Mennonite Church, a
Children’s Sunday School Teacher and the sewing circle. On September 4, 1947
she married Otto Bartel at Goessel. He passed away on December 4, 2004.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Carol (Ron) Hartzler of Wichita, Bev (Roger)
Claassen of Plymouth, NE, 1 sister, Jolene Dirksen of Newton, 1 brother, Larry
(Marybeth) Dirksen of Anaheim, CA, 1 sister-in-law, Francis Dirksen of Marion,
5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her
parents, her husband, 1 daughter, Elaine Bartel Grooms, 1 son-in- law, Benjamin
Grooms, 1 sister, Dolores Dirksen Unruh, 1 brother Kermit Dirksen, 1 grandson,
Shem Hartzler, and 1 great grandson, Harper Grooms.
Private burial will be in Goessel Mennonite Cemetery.
Family will greet friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Saturday,
October 20, 2012 at Bethesda Nursing Home Chapel, Goessel. Memorial Service
will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Goessel Mennonite Church,
Goessel with Pastor Robert Yutzy officiating. Memorials may be sent to the
Bethesda Nursing Home in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home, 303 E. Main, Goessel,
KS 67053.
