Elmer Altman
Elmer Altman, 91, a resident of Newton for more than 50 years, died early today at Bethel Deaconess Hospital.
Services will be conducted at 2 p. m. Monday at Draper-Canon Chapel with the Rev. LeRoy A. Bott officiating. Burial will be in the Halstead Cemetery.
He was born May 27, 1890, in Moundridge to Samuel and Anna Foth Altman. He married Ollie S. Berger in Belle Plaine on June 20, 1919. She died Jan. 19, 1959. On June 1, 1960 he married Jennie M. Rambo Looney in Wichita. She died Nov. 21, 1972.
On Dec. 3, 1973, he married Alvertia Werner Holderman in Newton. She survives of the home.
Mr. Altman was a 50-year member of the American Legion, a member of the World War I Barracks and a member of the Harvey County Senior Citizens.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Kenneth Altman of Farmington, NM.; one daughter, Mrs. Dean (Betty) Merryman of Enid, Okla.; two step-daughters, Mrs. John (Betty) Buller and Mrs. Charles (Dolleen) Fry, both of Newton; two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Dugan of Haysville and Mrs. Pearl Pautz of Halstead; four grand-children; five step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Draper-Cannon Funeral Home this evening and until service time.
Memorials have been established for the American Cancer Society and the Heart Association. Memorial gifts may be left at the funeral home.
