Edna 'Eddie' Mae Ehlers
Edna "Eddie" Mae Ehlers, 84, died on Monday (Aug.
6, 2012) at Sedgwick Healthcare Center.
She was born on Oct. 26, 1927, in Newton to Lloyd P. and
Daisy L. (Hahn) Nebergall. Eddie was a graduate of Newton High School.
On April 13, 1958, she married Roland V. Ehlers in Newton.
Edna Mae was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Newton,
where she was active in the church choir and many committees. She was a 50 year
member of the Sweet Ade-lines singing group. In addition to enjoying singing
and music, Edna Mae enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii, feeding and
watching birds, and spending time with her loving family and many friends.
She is survived by her son, Earl and his wife, Tammy Ehlers
of Lahoma, Okla.; daughter, Gloye and her husband, Jeff Gloudeman of Wichita;
sister, Marguerite and her husband, Jerry Theobald of Bushnell, Ill.; special
friends, Dick and Sarah Vogt and Kathy Andres; four grandchildren; and one
great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers,
Willard (Butch) Nebergall and infant brother Earl Boyd Nebergall.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday (Aug. 10, 2012)
at First United Methodist Church in Newton, with the Rev. Dr. Doug Tofteland
presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral
Home Chapel in Newton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial
will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church of
Newton, in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
