Obituary: Susan M. Gillespie

Susan M. Gillespie, 83, registered nurse, died on Monday (Aug. 20, 2012) at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita. She was born on July 17, 1929, in St. Louis. She attended Christ the Catholic Church and was a member of Hicks-Davison American Legion Post 268 and V.F.W. Post 3115 Auxiliaries, Sedgwick Senior Citizens and Sedgwick Booster Club. On Jan. 2, 1947, she married Gene L. Gillespie in Wichita. He died on July 20, 2009. Survivors include sons, James (Pam) Gillespie of Sedgwick and Bart (Dawna) Gillespie of El Dorado; daughter, Geanne Alley of Sedgwick; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday (Aug. 27, 2012) at Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead, with Father Stephen Baxter officiating. Burial will follow at Wichita Park Cemetery. Memorials may be given to American Legion Post 268, V.F.W. Post 3115, or Sedgwick Senior Citizens, in care of Kaufman Funeral Home of Halstead.
