Obituary
Kenton O. Britton, 75, of Newton,
formerly of Arkansas City, died Friday (Jan. 20, 2017) at the Harry
Hynes Memorial Hospice of Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St.
Francis Campus in Wichita.
He was born on March 16, 1941, in
Arkansas City, the son of Guy Orwell and Angie Velma Bennett Britton.
In 1944, the family moved to Lamont, Oklahoma, where they lived until
1952. The Brittons then moved to the South Haven/Geuda Springs area.
Kenton graduated from Geuda Springs High School. He and his family
moved to Arkansas City in 1962, where he attended Cowley County
Junior College.
Kenton loved to do woodwork, making
several pieces of furniture for his family. For many years, he did
construction work, working with contractors to build several houses
in the Arkansas City area, including a home for his parents. Kenton
had also worked at Skyline Mobile Homes.
The Brittons were longtime members of
the First Presbyterian Church in Arkansas City. Kenton moved to
Newton in 2006.
Survivors include his sisters, Carolyn
Adams, Janice Good and her husband John, all of Newton, and Barbara
Walker and her husband Charles of Tulsa, Oklahoma; niece, Blakely
Bunning and her husband Galen of Manhattan; nephews, Bradley Good and
his wife Heather of Park City, as well as Michael Walker and Jason
Walker, both of Tulsa; and great-niece and great-nephews, Kagen,
Addison Reece, and Emilie Bunning, all of Manhattan.
Graveside services and interment will
be at 11 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 24, 2017) at the Hope Cemetery, southwest
of Arkansas City.
Visitation with the family, at the
funeral home, will be between 6 and 8 p.m. Monday (Jan. 23, 2017).
