W.H. Cheatum celebrated his 80th birthday Friday, October 7.  He had been in the furniture business in our town.  Mr. Cheatum was born near Columbus, Indiana, October 7, 1841.  When he was two years old, his parents moved to Illinois where they resided for about three years, then moving to Missouri where he grew to manhood.  In 1886 Mr. Cheatum moved to the southwest part of Reno county, and twelve years later came to Halstead.  The Evening Kansan-Republican, Newton, Kansas.  Thursday, October 13, 1921.  Page 2.
