Obituary

Naomi Ruth Schmidt (Boettcher) Baker, 85, passed away Monday (Jan. 30, 2017) at Asbury Park in Newton. She was born Dec. 7, 1931, in Hillsboro to Dan S. and Susie (Jost) Schmidt. Naomi was preceded in death by her parents. In 1950, Naomi married Gene Boettcher; he preceded her in death in 1974. In 1987, Naomi married John L. Baker; he also preceded her in death in 2002.

Survivors are stepson, Michael (Connie) Baker of Wichita; stepdaughter, Diana Baker of Bend, Oregon; step-grandson, Ryan Seaver; step-granddaughter, Kelsey Seaver; sister, Joyce Eppstein of Burbank, California; and brothers, Kenneth (Nancy) Schmidt of Marion and Don Schmidt of Wichita. She is also survived by nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 2, 2017) at Salem United Methodist Church, Newton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm, Marion, KS 66861. Online condolences may be left at www.zeinerfuneralhomes.com.
