Elma M. Buller

Elma M. Buller, 86, died Sunday (Feb. 5, 2006) at Newton Medical Center. 

She was born Oct. 30, 1919, to Cornelius J. and Maria (Peters) Mierau in Henderson, Neb. They preceded her in death. She married Howard K. Buller May 16, 1947, in Henderson, Neb. He survives of the home. 

She was a member of Bethel College Mennonite Church of North Newton. She worked as a school teacher and later a bookmaker in Henderson, Neb. She and her husband moved to the Newton area in the mid 1980s where she lived until her death. 

She was an avid reader, and she enjoyed playing Scrabble and doing crossword puzzles. 

She and her husband did volunteer work at Camp Freidenswalt, Mich., in 1986. They later did volunteer service with the Bethel College library until 1980. 

Other survivors include: sons, Stanley K. Buller of Lenexa and Charles K. Buller of Hesston; a daughter, Ruth Buller of Andover; a brother, Cornelius Mierau of Henderson, Neb.; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Mierau of Omaha, Neb.; and five grandchildren. 

She also was preceded in death by: brothers, Dan Mierau and Alvin Mierau; and sisters, Lizzie Epp and Matilda Friesen. 

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bethel College Mennonite Church with Pastor Heidi Regier Kreider officiating. 

Memorials have been established with the Mennonite Central Committee in care of the funeral home.
