David D. Block
Obituary
HESSTON — David D. Block, 91, minister, died on Saturday
(May 19, 2012) at his home in Hesston.
He was born on May 13, 1921, to David C. and Sarah Heinrichs
Block in Henderson, Neb. He married Sara Martens on Dec. 19, 1941, in Dallas,
Ore. She preceded him in death.
He devoted his life to the ministry, serving as pastor in
South Shafter, Calif., Balko, Okla., Newton, Grant, Neb., and Congerville, Ill.
He was a member of Hesston Mennonite Brethren Church. He
served in the Navy during World War II.
Survivors include daughter, Jacqueline Albright of Lubbock,
Texas; son, Jeffrey “Jeff” A. Block and wife, Carol of Norman, Okla.; brother,
Abe Block of Spring Park, Minn.; four grandchildren, Tucker (Bertha) Albright
of Booker, Texas, Nicol Paul of Lubbock, Texas, Jeff (Shanna Person) Block Jr.
of Moore, Okla., and Katie Block of
Norman, Okla.; and six great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were his parents, one sister and
two brothers.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday (May 28, 2012)
at Hesston Mennonite Brethren Church in Hesston.
