Obituary
WICHITA — Richard D. Keller died on Tuesday (May 1, 2012) in
Wichita.
He was born on Oct. 29, 1932, to Thelma K. (Leckington) and
David Keller in Newton.
He married Nora Joyce Wilson on July 17, 1972, in Newton.
She died on Oct. 21, 2005.
Richard served four years in U.S. Air Force.
Richard worked for Leckington and Sons Co., then later as a
carryout and produce employee for Safeway Grocery, and as a skateboy for tips
at the local roller skating rink. Richard also was on the B & B Gang, and
worked as a crane operator and fireman for the Santa Fe Railroad and later
worked for Guerdon Industries until 1959. Richard then took a position as a
maintenance operator for the refinery in El Dorado, where he retired after 31
years of service. He also raised cattle on his ranch in El Dorado.
Hobbies included carpentry work and building different
crafts, and he loved dancing. Richard taught country dancing for some time and
was a member of the True Lies dance club in El Dorado.
Survivors include two sons, Stephen P. Keller of Wichita and
Richard “Rick” M. Keller of Kansas City; one stepson, Rodney Walford of
Garnett; one stepdaughter, Brenda Razor of California; one grandchild; three
stepgrandchildren; and many loving and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his spouse; and
son, Michael D. Keller.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday at Broadway
Colonial Funeral Home of Newton, with the family greeting guests from 5 to 7
p.m.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greenwood
Cemetery in Newton.
