Patricia J. Reif, 76, died on Wednesday (March 9, 2011) at Newton Medical Center in Newton.
She was born on Sept. 17, 1935, in Valley Center to George David and Mary K. (Obrien) Legan.
A resident of Newton for 24 years, she formerly resided in McPherson and Halstead.
She was a cook and groundskeeper at the McPherson Country Club and was a cook and baker for U.S.D. 440 Halstead-Bentley Schools.
She attended Liberty Baptist Church in Newton.
On May 4, 1965, she married Harlen Guy "Pop" Ferguson in Plains. He died on Sept. 5, 1983.
On Sept. 12, 1986, she married Dale J. Reif in Newton. He survives.
Other survivors include sons, Curtis Balzer of McPherson and George (Theresa) Ferguson of Newton; daughter, Connie (Hal) Humes of Topeka; half-brother, Bernie Legan of Valley Center; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brothers, David and LeRoy Legan.
Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Liberty Baptist Church in Newton. Pastor Peter Ostrander will officiate.
Memorials may be given to Liberty Baptist Church, in care of Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead.
