FRIEDA LANGENWALTER
Frieda Ida (Auernheimer) Langenwalter was born in Summerfield, Ill. on Oct 3, 1884 to Christian and Maria Auernheimer. On Sept. 4, 1898 she was baptized by Rev. C. H. van der Smissen and received as a member of the Summerfield Mennonite Church.
On March 28, 1906 she was married to Philip August Langenwalter in the Auernheimer family home at Halstead, Kan. They continued to live in Kansas for six years, then moved to California in 1912. They settled in the San Joaquin Valley where they farmed until 1930, at which time they moved to Paso Robles, Calif.
Mother was always interested in the activities of the church and was faithful in attendance all her life. She was a willing worker in the ladies mission society, serving as chairman for a number of years. She made many quilts for relief, and continued to do so until her failing eyesight no longer permitted her to sew. She went home to be with the Lord on June 6, 1976 at the age of 91.
Surviving are two sons, Earl of Tulare, Calif. and Paul of LaMirada, Calif.; two daughters, Gertrude Stonebrook of Independence, Ore. and Edna Heer of Paso Robles; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Clara Heer of Summerfield, Ill., Mollie Bartel of Newton, Kan. and Bertha Krehbiel of Sacramento, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband in May 1970 and one son, Alvin, in October 1975.
Funeral services were held June 10, 1976 at the First Mennonite Church, Paso Robles, with Rev. Herbert M. Dalke officiating. Interment was made at the Paso Robles district cemetery.
