Dallice W. Baumgartner
Obituary
Dallice W. Baumgartner, 81, of Newton, died on Thursday
(July 14, 2011) at the Newton Medical Center.
He was born on Feb. 7, 1930, in Harvey County, the son of
C.W. and Elsie Molzon Baumgartner. He was raised in the Halstead and Newton
area, graduating from Newton High School in 1948.
During the Korean conflict, Dallice served in the U.S. Army.
He married Alice Elizabeth Koerner on May 25, 1957, in Newton. They lived in
Sedgwick for a short time before returning to Newton. Alice died on Sept. 7,
1977.
Dallice owned and operated D's Auto Service for many years
in Newton. He had been a member of Eastside United Methodist Church for more
than 45 years, and for more than 30 years, Dallice was active in Babe Ruth
Baseball, having served as an assistant state commissioner and coached many
championship teams.
Survivors include two sons, Alan Baumgartner and David
Baumgartner, both of Newton; three grandchildren, Misty Lopez, Amber
Baumgartner and Matthew Baumgartner; and two great-grandchildren, Jacob Franco
and Mason Lopez.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and sister,
Bonnie Schroeder.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Eastside
United Methodist Church in Newton. Private family inurnment will be at
Greenwood Cemetery.
There will be no visitation or viewing as cremation has been
effected.
A memorial has been established with the Eastside United
