Obituary

Shirley A. Ingrim Rohe, 75, died on Thursday (July 28, 2011) at Newton Medical Center.

She was born on Aug. 14, 1935, in Rice County to Willie and Cora Ann (Garner) Ingrim. Shirley belonged to the Christian Church in McPherson.

Shirley attended Newton High School. In 1953, she moved to California and then to Las Vegas for 20 years. While living in Las Vegas, she married Henry J. Rohe. In 1977, she moved back to Newton to be near her family. She retired from Axtell Clinic in 1999 where she worked in the business office for 18 years.

She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 971 in Newton; she served as president in 1994 and secretary/treasurer in 1997. Shirley loved the ocean, especially Monterey Bay, which is a place she held dear. She also enjoyed the sea otters. Shirley's family was important to her, and she greatly enjoyed spending time with her loving family and friends.

Shirley is survived by four daughters: Marilyn McKeever of South Carolina, Lori Cirella of Rockford, Ill., and Sandra Rohe and Laura (Kelly) Franz both of Newton; six grandchildren, Shawn and Jenna McKeever, Abby and Courtney Cirella and Laura's daughters Ashlee and Halie Kasper. She also is survived by her sister Grace Hood.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Bill Ingrim and sister Betty Morgan.

Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday with the family receiving friends from 2 to 4 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Asbury Park Chapel in Newton with the Rev. James W. Anderson presiding. A private family spreading of Shirley's ashes will take place at a later date.

Memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers to the Caring Hands Humane Society in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
